Mary Davy
It was with great sadness that we received the news of the sudden death of Mary Davy (G6SWZ) on Friday afternoon 13th March 2026.
Mary had been quite poorly for some time but the treatment she had been receiving was progressing well of late and she had just taken back on the job of our Hon Secretary once again as she was feeling much better. Mary had decided that due to her vulnerability to infection she would continue her valuable input by, for the time being, by working from home. On 3rd March she published her first Club Newsletter, Committee Minutes & Calendar, since resuming the job. Mary, like her late husband David, was not only a loyal member of our club, but was an active supporter, always ready to take on roles in promoting our club & Amateur Radio, at our various public functions, in particular at our local Market Rasen Rallies and at the National HAMFEST held at the Newark Showground annually in September each year.
On the death of Pam Rose (G4STO), our long-term Hon. Secretary two years ago, Mary, who was already involved in producing our Newsletter and helping with other activities, volunteered without hesitation, to take on the secretarial role as she had become familiar with the procedures whilst assisting Pam to cope during Pan’s terminal illness. Mary was meticulous in all the roles she took on. She was a charming lady, reliable and a delight to work with. She will be greatly missed by all our members.
As we say in the Amateur Radio World, Mary (G6SWZ) has now become a ‘Silent Key’, but her wonderful legacy will be with us all for many years to come.
We send our heartfelt condolences to all her family and friends.
Peter Kendall (M0EJL) President Lincoln Short Wave Club
