We once again operated GB5DAM a station to remember the RAF aircrew, German civilians and POW’s killed during Operation Chastise, the now famous Dambusters raid. RAF 617 Squadrons raid on the Ruhr Dams, using the bouncing bomb invented by Barnes Wallis.

We started operating at 21.20 the time the first wave of Lancaster Bomber took off from RAF Scampton, The first contact was Bob VP8LP in the Falkland Islands on 20m, then as is tradition we began the run on 40m which within 2 calls created a huge pile up ( thanks for the cluster spots!). Around 2 hours into the run operators changed ironically just as the 40m propagation altered not to our advantage with Steve M5ZZZ being blamed for killing the band hi hi !!
