Saturday at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 04/06/2022 by G4STO04/06/2022

Another fruitful Saturday morning at the shack, this morning it was cleaning the trailer masts, which haven’t been used for over two years, ready for VHF NFD and Poacher in July all we need now are volunteers for setting up and operating the stations followed by packing up afterwards.

A couple of jobs out of the way.

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 22/01/2022 by Andy Gibbons27/10/2022

A nice sunny morning at the club this morning Saturday 22/01/2022 and a few members on hand to do some jobs. We first of all located the army command tent, got it out and checked it over ready for the first SES of the year GB6IBC at the international bomber command centre. As well as sorting out a few other bits ready for the day while the weather was so nice to work outside. 80 years of the Lancaster Bomber- Lincoln Shortwave Radio Club Family Day – International Bomber Command Centre (internationalbcc.co.uk) Then we put up a 12m spider beam … Continue reading →

Guy Martin at East Kirkby

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 09/12/2021 by G4STO14/12/2021

A team from the club assisted Guy Martin and the TV filming team to do a short ‘Morse sequence’ using the R1155/T1154 (as fitted in the Avro Lancaster bombers during WW2) in the (GB2CWP) Radio Museum ‘Shack’ at East Kirkby and which was a two way communication with a temporary station (GX5FZ) set up at the nearby EK Control Tower.  The filming took place on 20th September 2021.  The team comprised Roger G3PVU, Steve G6TVP, David G1`WVO, Tom G4OSB, Andy K0KED and Peter M0EJL.

Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 16/10/2021 by G4STO27/10/2021

I was worn out just watching and taking photos today!!  When I got to the club this morning a few members were about to go to Brattleby and evaluate the moving of the green storage container.  Not only did they evaluate the situation they took the container to pieces and transported it back to the shack; I was shattered!!!  Well done Andy M0IYE, Daron 2£0GFY, Graham MM1DHV, Steve \M5ZZZ and Les G1LQB.  Weather permitting it will be erected at the end of the shack next Saturday starting at about 0930; it would be great if there were a few more … Continue reading →

It was a lazy Saturday at the shack last week

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 22/08/2021 by G4STO21/11/2022

Rain forecast so painting was put on hold; a well deserved rest for the team; I just hope they don’t get used to it.  Next week we will be having a celebratory BBQ for our 100th Anniversary.

Another Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 14/08/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

When I arrived at the shack this morning Andy M0IYE had already got stuck in distributing the gravel in the parking area; sweat was rolling off me just looking!!  When Stephen M5SJM arrived he levelled the gravel, they certainly earned their cuppa this morning.  I got stuck in finishing off cleaning the BBQ ready for the 28th and then cleaning the chairs; they had been weathered for over two years!!!

Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 07/08/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

When I arrived at the club this morning there were cars in the car park but no one in sight apart from three club members waiting to be let into the shack.  I let them in and then started work cleaning the BBQ.  About a hour later the missing members returned; they had been sorting our storage container ready for moving it. As usual Andy M0IYE got stuck in giving the south wall of the shack another coat of paint, I’m not sure what the others were doing, I was still cleaning the BBQ.

There was a good turnout this morning at the shack A planning meeting for an imminent trip to East Kirkby. The usual painting working party Insulation Aerial party Les G1LQB was somewhere around but managed to avoid the camera.
