NATIONAL HAMFEST

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 14/07/2020 by G4STO06/02/2021

The Directors of National Hamfest (Lincoln) Limited have today issued the following statement: It is with much regret that we must announce the cancellation of the National Hamfest 2020 due to be held on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th September. We have been closely monitoring the ever changing health landscape and emerging government guidance.  In consideration of our primary responsibilities to the health and welfare of our volunteers, traders and visitors we have decided that this is the right decision. The environment in which the event is held presents unique and very difficult challenges in protecting social distancing, preventing handling of … Continue reading →

QO100 Portable Setup Testing

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 09/03/2020 by G4STO06/02/2021

QO100 portable setup testing at LSWC, using 80cm dish, dual band dish feed and SG labs 2.4GHz transverter.  Although signals were a little weak (possibly due to sun noise and cloud), a signal test was transmitted by Andy Gibbons, M0IYE on the 2.4GHz uplink and received on the 10GHZ downlink. The portable setup will be used at public events.  A larger dish will be installed at the shack, but until then visitors to the shack may use the portable setup weather permitting.  Andy G0FVI

Another busy Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 27/01/2020 by G4STO22/02/2020

The mast for the satellite project was erected in December so this week Stephen M5SJM, Richard M7RKK and Les G1LQB made sure the antenna for the project would be kept safe until needed; it also means it doesn’t have to be moved in and out of the shack when we have meetings.

Another successful Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 07/06/2019 by G4STO13/06/2019

The 2nd June was another busy Saturday morning at the shack; this week concentrating on getting the new pulleys on the trailer mast in readiness for the satellite station’s aerials.  Murphy’s Law dictated that the trailer to be worked on was the one blocked in by the other so work started early getting both trailer masts on to the carpark.   Old pulleys were removed with the aid of an angle grinder and new pulleys fitted.  Somehow I managed to miscalculate the food for the Sausage and Burger Night and had half a dozen burgers and a dozen sausages left over … Continue reading →
