Easter BBQ and a Thankyou

On Saturday 31st March the first BBQ of the year was held for all Members. It was very well organized by Steve M5ZZZ, Marc M7DEU and Pam G4STO. Marc Manned the BBQ along with Linda. Producing some excellent Burgers and Sausages. With Side salads, potatoes, onions, sauces andcheesecakes all available in the Village Hall. Pam organised the Easter Quiz which went down very well with the winning team going home with their prised Easter eggs. Christmas Quiz and Social Evening

The last of our festive activities for 2022 took place on 14th December with what is now a regular and ‘popular’ event Pam’s Christmas Quiz and Social Evening.  Below are a few sample questions so you know they weren’t hard and perhaps tempt you to join us in 2023. Christmas Dinner

On Wednesday 7th December the club held it Christmas Dinner at the Fox and Hounds in Willingham by Stow.  Members and guests attending this year were: Pam G4STO, Stephen M5SJM, Marc M87DEU, Les G1LQB, David M6OYN, Graham M1DHV, Sandra M1DHVs XYL, Jackie G3PVUs XYL, Roger G3PVU, Graham 2E1TSO, Sue 2E1TSOPs XYL, Celia M6JZO, Peter 2E0FGA, Mary G6SWZ and David G6EWP and I am sure everyone enjoyed their evening.

BBQ Night At The LSWC

Wednesday night was one of the popular BBQ evenings hosted at the LSWC shack. A big thanks goes out to Pam, G4STO, for organising the event and getting all the food stocks in. And also to Steve M5ZZZ for manning the chef duties on the grill. Running from 7.30pm many members turned out to enjoy the food and drinks on offer. Even members from the local RAF Waddington Club attended as is the norm with us being us invited to each others social events.

Christmas Dinner

Wednesday 15th was time for the Clubs Christmas dinner gathering. As per past years the venue was the Fox and Hounds at Willingham by Stow. This dinner was also a celebration of the clubs centenary anniversary which we was not able to celebrate earlier in the year. After taking over the bar everyone got settled at the tables ready for the usual great meal. Christmas Social Evening

There was a reasonable turnout for the Christmas Social evening with 17 guests enjoying the seasonal quiz and buffet (supplied by Morrisons and Aldi)!!  I think they enjoyed the quiz although they found it hard; I got all the answers right so it couldn’t have been that hard!!  Well done to the members of the winning team: Graham M1DHV & Sandra and Bob G3VEV & Rosemary.  It’s all over, just a bit more clearing up to do.

Saturday afternoon at the shack

Established in 1921 the club celebrated 100 years of amateur radio on 21st February 2021 unfortunately due to lockdown we were unable to ‘party’,  Once lockdown was eased and we could start meeting again we organised a Sausage and Burger afternoon which took place today.  We were joined by a few members from Hull & District Amateur Radio Society who also celebrate 100 years of amateur radio in Hull this year and from RAF Waddington ARC our neighbouring amateur radio club. Christmas Social Evening

There was a good turnout for the club Christmas Social evening with 29 out of the 38 expected guests enjoying a finger buffet and seasonal quiz!!  Andy M0KED and Linda were second and third on the scene and helped Pam G4STO get the food out of her boot and on to the tables. It wasn’t long before other members arrived and set out the hall ready for the buffet which was followed by a Christmas Quiz, taken off the internet by Pam; apparently it was difficult.
