Happy New Year

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 01/01/2014 by G4XFC27/10/2022

2013 had its ups and downs, we were the successful winners of the RSGB National club of the Year Award and again the National Hamfest was bigger and better than last year. We have put on some successful stations for the Scouts and though Boultham Park event was draining with the heat it was still enjoyed by all. The latest strong winds destroyed all the aerials on our mast and now down to a long wire for operations in the shack, we should have the aerials sorted out in Jan/Feb 2014. The sad news was the passing away of Geoff … Continue reading →

G5FZ Christmas Dinner

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 19/12/2013 by G4XFC27/10/2022

Lincoln Short Wave Club’s Christmas Dinner was held at the Fox & Hounds, Willingham by Stow. It was a jovial event attended by club members and families. I took pictures of the event with my Smart Phone and realised when I got home that although I am good at Morse, I am useless at photography. I apologise to everyone that smiled at me, as their smile was in vain as all pictures were useless and could not be used. The meal was very good, compared to last year where the garlic mushrooms were that hard that they kept flying of … Continue reading →

Another resounding success at Lincoln Short Wave Club and it wasn’t a contest!!

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 27/07/2012 by G4STO27/10/2022

On Wednesday 25th July about 30 members and xyl’s enjoyed our summer bar-be-cue night when Pam G4STO and Steve M5ZZZ cooked burgers and sausages for all present. Pam was first to arrive followed closely by Steve in order to get the bar-be-cue set up in the BSA Club car park. In no time members and guests were flocking up ready to partake in our delicacies, well the burgers and sausages but this time there was a treat for those up to the challenge – Pam’s Autumn Fruit Chutney and Green Tomato Chutney; not sure whether participants were being polite or … Continue reading →

Jubilee Bar-be-cue

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 02/06/2012 by G4STO27/10/2022

It was disappointing only a few members could make it to our ‘posh’ bar-be-cue today, perhaps the ‘posh’ bit put folk off but it was only posh because we had salads followed by creamy puddings; I think 500 calories a slice!  Everyone present seemed to enjoy themselves although Steve didn’t do a very good job at organising the weather, dry but cool; I felt Pam did an excellent job with the food, as usual she was worried in case there wasn’t enough to go around but also as usual, she over catered!!   The Special Event station GQ5FZ was enjoyed by … Continue reading →
