Wednesday night and most of the SES equipment was loaded into cars ready for an early start at Boultham Summer Fair 2019 where we used the callsigns GX5FZ and GX6COL.
Members setting up and manning the station this year were Les G1LQB, Andy 2E0OYQ, Peter M0EJL, James G0EUN, Andy G0FVI, Tom G4OSB, Fred G4HNQ, Roger G3PVU, Stephen M5SJM, Pam G4STO, Andy M0KED and Barry G4DBS from RAF Waddington ARC.
The tried and tested fan dipoles were hoisted into position and the Coleman shelter erected ready for the onslaught of visitors at 10 o’clock. Once the station was set up Peter M0EJL started calling CQ and Pam G4STO brought out the newly acquired portable BBQ and cooked sausages for the helpers.
Known visitors to the station included Jackie G3PVUs partner, Kat M5SJMs partner, Peter G8HMZ a former member of the club and regular visitor to our station, Don (another former member of the club) and Jeff from Waddington ARC, Carolyn G0FVIs xyl and his son George; unknown visitors were numerous.
Time to eat
Later in the afternoon when helpers looked hungry Pam tested the BBQ again and produced beef burgers for those still hungry!!
Time to operate, chat and rest
Time to pack up
4 o’clock and it started to cloud over again so it was decided to pack up before the rain came and in no time the equipment was packed into vans and the boots of cars and most of it taken back to the shack where Stephen M5SJM, Andy 2E0OYQ, Les G1LQB and Pam G4STO put it all away.
Monday evening before the Committee Meeting Andy G0FVIs van was unloaded and the last of the equipment was returned on Wednesday by Peter M0EJL.
Our next outing
Boultham Summer Fair 2019 is now over and our next special event station will be at Fir Park Wings and Wheels during the weekend of 24-26 August using the callsign GB5WW.
