Saturday mornings at the shack 24th July 2021

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 24/07/2021 by G4STO07/08/2021

If you call at the shack you will be forgiven for thinking nothing had been done but you would be wrong.  The mission today was to move the shed at the back of the shack, not a five-minute job. Once moved the fence can be finished. Helpers today were, in alphabetical callsign order: G1LQB, M0IYE, M5SJM, M5ZZZ, M7OYN and M7RSF.  G4STO was also there but her job is to take photographs. Heavy duty rachet straps were placed around the shack and fixed to Les’ van but it was impossible to move it full so it had to be emptied which … Continue reading →

Not much work done at the shack today; too hot.

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 17/07/2021 by G4STO07/08/2021

Les G1LQB decided to wash some moss off the path and Pam G4STO finished off painting the shed where she could reach; still two sides to do: the shed is being moved to make it easier.  I had to leave early as I was covered in paint where I shouldn’t have been.

Another Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 10/07/2021 by G4STO07/08/2021

There was a good turnout this morning at the shack A planning meeting for an imminent trip to East Kirkby. The usual painting working party Insulation Aerial party Les G1LQB was somewhere around but managed to avoid the camera.

East Kirkby

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 09/07/2021 by G4STO07/08/2021

It isn’t just working parties at the shack at Aisthorpe we also have the shack at the East Kirkby Aviation Heritage Centre.  I picked Steve M5ZZZ up this morning and we headed off to East Kirkby to do a spot of Spring cleaning ready for opening.

Another exciting Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 03/07/2021 by G4STO04/07/2021

We’ve all heard of a ‘Month of Sundays’ well we have had a ‘Week of Saturdays’ working on and in the shack.  This Saturday we weren’t put off by the weather forecast and we had two working parties; the manual workers painting the shack and the light duty workers sorting equipment donated for the club social fund. Andy M0IYE and Steve M5ZZZ carried on with the painting of the shack and Les G1LQB cleared the back of the shack so that can be painted next week. Roger G3PVU and Tom G4OSB were sorting the equipment; Richard M7RKK gave a hand … Continue reading →

It’s all happening at the shack on a Saturday morning

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 26/06/2021 by G4STO04/07/2021

There was a good turnout for painting the shack this morning Andy M0IYE, Richard M7RKK, Claire Richard’s XYL, Steve M5ZZZ, David M7OYN and Pam G4STO We finished the west end and almost got the north side done; next week should see the end to painting the outside of the shack. Les G1LQB was on hedge trimming duties. Roger G3PVU was going to sort valves and other equipment that had been donated to our next surplus equipment sale but I had left them in my garage. Andy M0KED, Tom G4OSB and Brian G4HIV called in to see how things were going

Another fun day at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 19/06/2021 by G4STO04/07/2021

Today I fitted leaf guards to the downpipes.  When I cleaned the gutters out a couple of weeks ago there was about a foot of composted leaves blocking the pipes. Andy M0IYE and Les G1LQB measured the shack and paint was then ordered; it should be awaiting painters next time we are at the shack. Roger G3PVU was busy sorting boxes of valves ready for our next surplus equipment sale hopefully at the end of October. Les helped move obstacles so Andy could finish off painting the fence; there is enough paint to do another coat when we are next … Continue reading →

Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 13/06/2021 by G4STO04/07/2021

There was a good turnout at the club on Saturday which enabled us to work in three areas: the car park, the painting and sorting equipment recently donated to the club. The members levelling gravel in the car park were Andy M0IYE, Stuart M7RSF, David M7OYN.and Richard M7RKK. On painting duties were Claire XYL of M7RKK, Steve M5ZZZ, Les G1LQB and Pam G4STO, she reached the parts Claire couldn’t. The sorting out of equipment Roger G3PVU with an occasional hand from Pam G4STO who was also on cooking duties. I’m not sure what had to be done to the mast … Continue reading →

Another successful Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 05/06/2021 by G4STO04/07/2021

When I arrived at the shack this morning Stuart M7RSF and Les G1LQB were already there; Andy M0IYE arrived soon after for the briefing!! Once Steve M5ZZZ arrived with the brushes we were able to get on with the painting and managed to give both sides of the fence separating the shack and car park a first coat; next week it will be the east fence and probably a second coat on the west fence.   I said ‘we’ I didn’t actually wield a brush; I was Safety Officer, photographer, tea girl and cook this week.
