Tonight club member Alan M0XVR A.K.A. George the Porsche gave a very enjoyable and instructional talk on the role of the Airborne Warning and Control System which he was involved with up to recently.

Thanks for a most enjoyable and informative presentation Alan. The way the AWACS is deployed in a 21st century war scenario was well illustrated enhanced by showing how the roles of every crew member contributed to the effectiveness of their operations. The technical aspects all kept to an understandable level and the narrative interspersed with good humour! It was good to hear so many positive comments too on both the Thursday 2m Club Net and the Friday 2m Local USB Net. Only problem was that when you joined the RAF back in the early eighties Alan – I had just left after 30 odd years – (string & pencil in those days, no computers!) – and that made me feel a bit long in the tooth!
