Poacher Update
Gerry G6KGG busy working with the scouts helping them to send greetings messages, while Pam G4STO fills out the Communication Certificate for them which goes towards the Scouts Communication Badge.
The team has been very busy, and found it difficult to fit everything into the half hour slot allocated to the scouts so at times some pileups of scouts had to be worked through. The weather was fine up to today Wednesday when the rain started and then everything got a bit damp.
Today’s highlight was a Russian Guide from the Urals whose grasp of the English was basic but we managed to get her through the course and she was surprised and very pleased when we managed to find a Russian station on the HF radio for her to listen to. Jason G7KPM had set up a video link from his car parked in the car park and Jason exchanged greetings in Russian much to the surprise of the guide who told Jason he spoke very good English.
Myself, Gerry G6KGG and Les G1LQB were invited at dinner time to try the Laser Clay Shooting Event and a competition between us was started. It was kind of Gerry and Les to let me win the competition.
We would like to thank all the stations who agreed to letting the Scouts sent them greetings messages.
