RSGB FT4 24 Hour Activity Day

The Lincoln Short Wave Club members participated in the FT4 activity day at Fir Park Farm. We operated from the club’s NATO trailer, led by Les G1LQB, Marc M7DEU, Ian M7BKF, and David M6OYN.Despite challenging conditions, we persevered for the full 24 hours. We used a simple setup: a vertical multi-band antenna and one of the members’ Yaesu 710 radios.We managed to make 311 contacts, and the weather was surprisingly pleasant. SSB Field Day 2019

Once again the club was in action up at the old bomb dump, this time for SSB Field Day 2019. This year the equipment was brought up the site on the Friday evening by Les, G1LQB and Steve, M5ZZZ. Saturday morning and the rest of the group arrived Stephen, M5SJM, Andy M0IYE, Stuart M7RSF & Simon M0SIY. By 12pm the equipment was all set up and tested. VHF NFD

Several members took part in VHF NFD again this year; I think tempers were a little fraught whilst setting up in the morning but things had calmed down by the time I returned to prepare the sausages and burgers with help from Louise 2E0LOT in the evening.     We did wonder where the frying pan had disappeared to only to find it being used as an antenna!!!!
