Shack Insulation

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 20/05/2017 by G4STO27/10/2022

What will take over in ‘Matters Arising’ at our monthly committee meetings and AGMs?  We have been going to insulate the roof space in the shack for about 8 years and on 11th May 2017 Bob G7AVU and me G4STO went and ordered the materials; the boards were delivered on the 18th and Bob managed to get the 3M lengths of wood in his car (they delivered the insulation free but wanted almost £40 to deliver the wood). The east side of the roof space had been cleared by Bob and Steve M5ZZZ a few weeks ago, so it was … Continue reading →

Another busy Saturday at the Club

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 09/01/2017 by G4STO27/10/2022

Another busy Saturday at the club: the first of the 2017 Foundation Courses started with 10 candidates from Lincs 4×4. The practical elements of the course were completed with help from G1FLL, M0EJL, G1LQB and 2E0FGA; 2E0YBG was at the end of a radio at home. While this was going on Ian G4EVK replaced a switch in the photocopier and Roger G3PVU was looking for faults in another piece of equipment.

Shack Working Party

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 10/12/2016 by G4STO27/10/2022

It was all hands on path this morning clearing leaves outside the shack; Ken G3NIC and Peter G1FLL brought leaf vacs, I took a yard brush and shovel (for others to use!!). Joe 2E0ECF and Geoff 2E0YBG used the brush and shovel very professionally and Les G1LQB cleared a way for Peter and his vacuum.  Ken worked single handed at the west end of the shack!   An excellent job was done by all including Art (he helped throw some junk away from the end of the shack) who only joined the club this morning; does he realise what he has let … Continue reading →

MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 07/09/2016 by G4STO27/10/2022

It was all go at the shack tonight when half a dozen members helped cut up the Exhibitor Passes for the National Hamfest.   I’m not sure how safe Ian was using that guillotine but I didn’t see any blood on the table after we had finished.  Thanks Ian G4XFC, Peter G1FLL, Chris 2E0NDT, Geoff 2E0YBG and Stephen SWL.

Steve M5ZZZ putting the finishing touches (fitting the knobs) to the kitchen cupboards while some members take a well earned rest from the Intermediate Course and others taking a rest from watching Steve work. The moment Steve realised the knobs weren’t level. After months of talking about it the cupboards are now fitted and filled.  Just need to clear the tops down and start using the contents of the cupboards.

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE SHACK

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 15/12/2015 by G4STO27/10/2022

On Saturday the 5th December it was decided to have a bit of a “do” the following Saturday and everyone should bring a plate of food, you know, what you can eat and perhaps a little more for those that knew nothing about it!!  The first photo shows the table at the beginning, this was added to during the morning and the second photo what was left; this will be eaten on Wednesday evening.

Shed Painting

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 25/05/2015 by G4STO27/10/2022

The shack was painted in 2014 but the weather didn’t stay good enough to get the shed done so a working party was arranged for Saturday 23rd May; unfortunately it was arranged the same day as another working party was emptying the caravan so it left just Peter M0EJL and Pam G4STO to get the brushes out.

Shack Painting

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 06/08/2014 by G4STO27/10/2022

Relaxing in the shack before work commenced. For the amount of people that turned up to help at the shack this morning (26th July) there was a lot of varying activities; washing down the shack, work again on the SteppIR, repairs to the white board and Les found a use for some of the grease in the drum at the end of the shack and greased the trailer mast.              After the ends of the shack had been washed down Peter M0EJL and James G0EUN started painting whilst Steve M5ZZZ, Gerry G6KGG, Bob G7AVU and … Continue reading →
