G5FZ Christmas Dinner

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 19/12/2013 by G4XFC27/10/2022

Lincoln Short Wave Club’s Christmas Dinner was held at the Fox & Hounds, Willingham by Stow. It was a jovial event attended by club members and families. I took pictures of the event with my Smart Phone and realised when I got home that although I am good at Morse, I am useless at photography. I apologise to everyone that smiled at me, as their smile was in vain as all pictures were useless and could not be used. The meal was very good, compared to last year where the garlic mushrooms were that hard that they kept flying of … Continue reading →

VILLAGE HALL CAR PARK

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 27/10/2013 by G4STO27/10/2022

A few months ago I was asked if members of the Lincoln Short Wave Club could help form a working party with other regular users of the Village Hall to spread gravel on the car park.  True to LSWC form a working party was arranged and by Saturday 26th October 11 tons of gravel had been delivered ready to spread.  Fifteen of our members turned out to help (average age I believe a few years over 60, it was young David who brought it down to that level!!!) together with Steve and Chris from the Village Hall Committee. Work was … Continue reading →

GB3LS officially open for business on IRLP

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 09/08/2013 by G4XFC09/08/2013

Ofcom issued NOV today, so here we go, even found that Santa has a node at the North Pole , already to send request for IC7800 to him when next at radio. To use just open repeater as normal and then whist mic open us DTMF key pad to send 4 digit node and unmet and you will hear the remote repeater acknowledge and open, then either breaking or call as normal. List of IRLP nodes on irlp.net. Looks like another way of having radio fun, so from now on the first thing to pack when going away is your … Continue reading →

Poacher Update

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 31/07/2013 by G4XFC27/10/2022

Gerry G6KGG busy working with the scouts helping them to send greetings messages, while Pam G4STO fills out the Communication Certificate for them which goes towards the Scouts Communication Badge. The team has been very busy, and found it difficult to fit everything into the half hour slot allocated to the scouts so at times some pileups of scouts had to be worked through. The weather was fine up to today Wednesday when the rain started and then everything got a bit damp. Today’s highlight was a Russian Guide from the Urals whose grasp of the English was basic but … Continue reading →

East Kirkby GB2CWP

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 27/05/2013 by G4XFC27/10/2022

It was a lovely day at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre as the sun was shining all day, perfect if you came to enjoy the 1940’s event that was going on all day. If you had come to play radio, with between S8 & S9 of noise on 40mtrs we had very few contacts. The plan today was to use the T1154 / R1155, but because of technical problems first with the R1155 which appeared to be deaf and was replaced with another one, then the T1154 which had HT problems though we don’t know yet if it was the T1154 … Continue reading →
