A team from the club assisted Guy Martin and the TV filming team to do a short ‘Morse sequence’ using the R1155/T1154 (as fitted in the Avro Lancaster bombers during WW2) in the (GB2CWP) Radio Museum ‘Shack’ at East Kirkby and which was a two way communication with a temporary station (GX5FZ) set up at the nearby EK Control Tower.  The filming took place on 20th September 2021.  The team comprised Roger G3PVU, Steve G6TVP, David G1`WVO, Tom G4OSB, Andy K0KED and Peter M0EJL.

Christmas Social Evening

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 08/12/2021 by G4STO27/10/2022

There was a reasonable turnout for the Christmas Social evening with 17 guests enjoying the seasonal quiz and buffet (supplied by Morrisons and Aldi)!!  I think they enjoyed the quiz although they found it hard; I got all the answers right so it couldn’t have been that hard!!  Well done to the members of the winning team: Graham M1DHV & Sandra and Bob G3VEV & Rosemary.  It’s all over, just a bit more clearing up to do.

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 13/11/2021 by Andy Gibbons13/11/2021

Saturday the 13th of November at the shack. We had a good turn out at the shack this morning and as well as drinking lots of tea and setting the world to rights. We were able to move all of the equipment that had been left outside during the green shed move into the green shed, now located next to the radio shack. As well as move all the stuff that was blocking access to the loft into the green shed. Many thanks for all the hard work too Les G1LQB, Pete 2E0FGA, Steve M5ZZZ, Dave G1WVO. Daron 2E0GFY.

On Wednesday night, Mick M6OYP, a member of or club gave a talk on his journey with the Invictus games and Archery. Starting at 7:30pm members of the club moved into the village hall where Mick talked through his presentation on the Invictus Games and how he had applied to volunteer at the next Games in 2022. Mick then went on to tell the story of how a chance meeting of the members of the Invictus Games GB team turned into a new found joy of Archery with the intention of taking his initial competition wins further by training to … Continue reading →

A talk on Half Wave End Fed Antennas

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 29/10/2021 by M5SJM29/10/2021

Earlier this month Steve, M5ZZZ, gave a talk to the members on End Fed Half Wave Antennas. Steve started out by showing a selection of videos produced by Waters & Stanton. Steve then told us about his own experiences with Half Wave End Fed Antennas and passed round a 49:1 Transformer to show how easily one could be made. It is hoped that from this talk members will be encouraged to go out and try building there on EFHW even if it is used as an easy portable setup.

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 23/10/2021 by G4STO27/10/2021

Remember last week the lads dismantled the green shed, well this week they put it back together. I didn’t get there until gone 10 and the lads were waiting for Steve M5ZZZ to go home and fetch the nuts and bolts which he didn’t remember putting gin his car!!!  The base was already in place and levelled ready for the shed being put on once Steve got back; luckily David M7OYN was there with his phone and took a few photos.  We had a few more strong men volunteer today so it made it a little easier although still hard … Continue reading →
