Continue reading →What better way could Tom, G4OSB celebrate his 80th Birthday? About 30 of his friends from LSWC together with XYLs and a couple of children joined Tom at the shack for a Sausage and Burger afternoon prepared by Pam, G4STO and her ‘assistant’ Steve, M5ZZZ. Pam and Steve did Tom proud with the specially selected Sausages and Burgers, salads and sweets. Pam was up until gone mid-night on Friday preparing trifles and fruit salad for the occasion; the sherry trifle was quickly consumed!!! There is a change to the club programme in July; Wednesday 13th July there is now a talk and film show by Geoff Burton, Trustee/Chairman of the RAF Heritage Centre, about the history of RAF Ingham. This talk starts at the earlier time of 1915 for 1930 as it lasts nearly two hours. This is a must for anyone interested Aviation History. It will take place in the Village Hall, Aisthorpe.
Continue reading →A dozen members of the club were given a tour of the Heritage Centre at RAF Scampton on 25th May. RAF Scampton was one of just a few airfields which began life during World War One. It was closed and then re-activated in 1936. In 1943 RAF Scampton became the home of their most famous squadron, 617 Squadron (The Dambusters) also known as Squadron X. Continue reading →Once permission to move the two metre repeater – GB3LM from the clock room to the top of the stairs by the 70 centimetre repeater – GB3LS was obtained Bob – G7AVU got a working party together to get the move made. The working party Bob, Clive – G8EQZ, Lyndon – M0LDR, Alistair – M0TEF, Andy – M0KED and Rick – M6FXU climbed the 365 steps (several times) and got the work done on 16th January. Bob will be pleased to receive reception reports for GB3LM. Photos – thank you M6FXU.
Continue reading →The Construction Contest this year was won by Peter M0EJL with his DSO138 Digital Oscilloscope which he built from a kit. I understand the circuit is simple, reliable and inexpensive; possibly a Saturday morning project for our newly licenced members. (I notice there are some on eBay for £13 including postage). Continue reading →I was asked to give a talk about Morse Code to Legsby Primary School as part of their communications project, which was successful and invited the pupils to visit our club shack at Aisthorpe. On the 30th of June the children arrived and enjoyed a day at the shack doing various things, I was helped by Pam G4STO, Peter G1FLL and Bob G7AVU the children enjoyed the visit with most of them enjoying Bobs talk on amateur television. Continue reading →Members of Lincoln Short Wave Club were delighted that members of the Grantham, RAF Waddington, and Thorpe Camp Amateur Radio Clubs were able to join them on Saturday 16th May for a Celebration of Lincolnshire Fayre (prepared by Steve M5ZZZ and Pam G4STO) and to say ‘thank you’ for their support at the National Hamfest each year.
