Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 09/08/2013 by G4XFC09/08/2013

Ofcom issued NOV today, so here we go, even found that Santa has a node at the North Pole , already to send request for IC7800 to him when next at radio. To use just open repeater as normal and then whist mic open us DTMF key pad to send 4 digit node and unmet and you will hear the remote repeater acknowledge and open, then either breaking or call as normal. List of IRLP nodes on irlp.net. Looks like another way of having radio fun, so from now on the first thing to pack when going away is your … Continue reading →

Poacher Update

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 31/07/2013 by G4XFC27/10/2022

Gerry G6KGG busy working with the scouts helping them to send greetings messages, while Pam G4STO fills out the Communication Certificate for them which goes towards the Scouts Communication Badge. The team has been very busy, and found it difficult to fit everything into the half hour slot allocated to the scouts so at times some pileups of scouts had to be worked through. The weather was fine up to today Wednesday when the rain started and then everything got a bit damp. Today’s highlight was a Russian Guide from the Urals whose grasp of the English was basic but … Continue reading →

East Kirkby GB2CWP

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 27/05/2013 by G4XFC27/10/2022

It was a lovely day at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre as the sun was shining all day, perfect if you came to enjoy the 1940’s event that was going on all day. If you had come to play radio, with between S8 & S9 of noise on 40mtrs we had very few contacts. The plan today was to use the T1154 / R1155, but because of technical problems first with the R1155 which appeared to be deaf and was replaced with another one, then the T1154 which had HT problems though we don’t know yet if it was the T1154 … Continue reading →

GB70DAM Special Memorial Station.

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 25/05/2013 by M5SJM27/10/2022

As most of you are aware 16-17th May 2013 was the 70th Anniversary of the Dambusters raid. Steve M5ZZZand the dedicated few usually run GB5DAM but this year we felt we needed a more significant callsign and after much wrangling Steve received the NOV for GB70DAM. The station was set up and ready to roll by 11am with Bob G7AVU kindly making a 23cm stream possible so people all round the world could watch live via the GB3VL stream on the BATC website. At the peak on the GB3VL stream we had 2000 viewers!! The first contact from RAF Scampton to … Continue reading →

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 21/04/2013 by G4STO27/10/2022

We arrived at the Institution of Engineering and Technology just after 11 a.m. after climbing 193 steps to get out of Covent Garden underground, apparently that is equivalent to 15 storeys, for the 86 Annual General Meeting of the RSGB. The AGM was over quite quickly and was followed by the presentation of the various awards the RSGB Club of the Year being the last to be presented.   In third place was Warrington ARC Region 3, in second place Newbury and District ARS Region 9 and in first place Lincoln Short Wave Club Region 13. In the top photo from … Continue reading →
