On the 11th and 12th of March the Club had its second weekend in a row of running a special event station. This time the national special event callsign GB80LAN from the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby. The callsign commemorates the first operational flight of the Lancaster from RAF Waddington 80 years ago this month. This special national call organised by Dave Bloomfield G0KUC is being passed around the three RAF Clubs as well as the home of Just Jane at East Kirkby. The call continues to the end of the month. Our Spring Rally

On Sunday 10 April, Lincoln Short Wave Club will holding its Spring Rally at the Festival Hall, Caistor Road, Market Rasen LN8 3HT.The cost of tables is £10 per 6ft table or £8 per 6ft if you have your own tables.To book tables please contact Steve, G6TVP on 0777 769 9069 email g6tvp@outlook.com. On Saturday the 5th March Lincoln Short Wave Club and the Learning officers at the International Bomber Command Centre Lincoln, Louise Hodder and Janine Smithson set up a joint family day and Special Event Station to commemorate the first operational use of the Avro Lancaster 80 years ago this March. Lincoln Shortwave Club will be joining amateur radio clubs and individual operators world wide in commemorating 80 years since the iconic plane of WW2 the Lancaster was first used in operations and the heroism of all those who served in them next month. A nice sunny morning at the club this morning Saturday 22/01/2022 and a few members on hand to do some jobs. We first of all located the army command tent, got it out and checked it over ready for the first SES of the year GB6IBC at the international bomber command centre. A very cold and foggy morning at the club today 15/01/2022. While the less hardy members retreated to the shack a group of members helped Daron 2E0GFY to finish and tune the 20m and 17m flower pot antennas he has made to use for small footprint portable operation with a 12m fiberglass pole and a car drive on mount. Upcoming Foundation and Intermediate Courses

At Lincoln Shortwave Club we are running a foundation course and exam on Saturday the 19th of March and Saturday the 26th of March. In addition to preparing for the exam that will be sat at the club in the afternoon of the 26th this will also be a practical course. With contacts being made on HF and VHF from the club station, an introduction to digital modes, antenna construction and tuning using SWR meters and antenna analysers and so on. Christmas Dinner

Wednesday 15th was time for the Clubs Christmas dinner gathering. As per past years the venue was the Fox and Hounds at Willingham by Stow. This dinner was also a celebration of the clubs centenary anniversary which we was not able to celebrate earlier in the year. Guy Martin at East Kirkby

A team from the club assisted Guy Martin and the TV filming team to do a short ‘Morse sequence’ using the R1155/T1154 (as fitted in the Avro Lancaster bombers during WW2) in the (GB2CWP) Radio Museum ‘Shack’ at East Kirkby and which was a two way communication with a temporary station (GX5FZ) set up at the nearby EK Control Tower.  The filming took place on 20th September 2021.  The team comprised Roger G3PVU, Steve G6TVP, David G1`WVO, Tom G4OSB, Andy K0KED and Peter M0EJL.
