Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 18/10/2022 by M5SJM18/10/2022

As many of you will know we have just had the National Hamfest 2022 and as one of the contributing clubs we had members there as part of the the volunteering team. But this year we had an addition to what we normally do. This year we had a dedicated club stall to promote the club to other radio amateurs. Setup As usual, setup for the event started on the Wednesday before with a number of members helping travelling via the club to assist loading the equipment before continuing on to Newark Showground. This year had some changes to the … Continue reading →

BBQ Night At The LSWC

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 01/09/2022 by M5SJM01/09/2022

Wednesday night was one of the popular BBQ evenings hosted at the LSWC shack. A big thanks goes out to Pam, G4STO, for organising the event and getting all the food stocks in. And also to Steve M5ZZZ for manning the chef duties on the grill. Running from 7.30pm many members turned out to enjoy the food and drinks on offer. Even members from the local RAF Waddington Club attended as is the norm with us being us invited to each others social events.

Surplus Equipment Sale and Friday afternoon at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 08/10/2021 by G4STO09/10/2021

To try and make the Surplus Equipment Sale Covid safe, the lots will be displayed in a marque with the sides open to allow for plenty of ventilation and the sale will be in the village hall with socially distanced seating and all doors open again allowing for plenty of ventilation. Your safety is our priority. To achieve this the lads went to the club this afternoon to erect the marquee (big tent really) ready for displaying the lots tomorrow. Booking in of equipment will be from 12 noon with the sale starting at 2 p.m.  Usual refreshments will be … Continue reading →

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 28/08/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

Established in 1921 the club celebrated 100 years of amateur radio on 21st February 2021 unfortunately due to lockdown we were unable to ‘party’,  Once lockdown was eased and we could start meeting again we organised a Sausage and Burger afternoon which took place today.  We were joined by a few members from Hull & District Amateur Radio Society who also celebrate 100 years of amateur radio in Hull this year and from RAF Waddington ARC our neighbouring amateur radio club. A big ‘thank you’ to Linda M0KEDs XYL, Jackie G3PVUs XYL and Steve M5ZZZ for help with the food … Continue reading →

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 22/08/2021 by G4STO21/11/2022

Rain forecast so painting was put on hold; a well deserved rest for the team; I just hope they don’t get used to it.  Next week we will be having a celebratory BBQ for our 100th Anniversary.

Another Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 14/08/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

When I arrived at the shack this morning Andy M0IYE had already got stuck in distributing the gravel in the parking area; sweat was rolling off me just looking!!  When Stephen M5SJM arrived he levelled the gravel, they certainly earned their cuppa this morning.  I got stuck in finishing off cleaning the BBQ ready for the 28th and then cleaning the chairs; they had been weathered for over two years!!!

Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 07/08/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

When I arrived at the club this morning there were cars in the car park but no one in sight apart from three club members waiting to be let into the shack.  I let them in and then started work cleaning the BBQ.  About a hour later the missing members returned; they had been sorting our storage container ready for moving it. As usual Andy M0IYE got stuck in giving the south wall of the shack another coat of paint, I’m not sure what the others were doing, I was still cleaning the BBQ.
